Lagos is a municipality at the mouth of Bensafrim River and along the Atlantic Ocean, in the Barlavento region of the Algarve, in southern Portugal. The main town of Lagos has a population of approximately 22,000.Typically, these numbers increase during the summer months, with the influx of visiting tourists and seasonal residents. Lagos is one of the most visited cities in the Algarve and Portugal, due to its variety of tourist-friendly beaches, rock formations , bars, restaurants and hotels, renowned for its vibrant summer nightlife and parties.

Two incredible days in Lagos and the sourrandings (Benagil, Marinha…), swimming and enjoying the sun.

We met a lot of people from all around the world who also came to discover this beautiful part of south Portugal.

We went back to the museum, and they had prepered for us to draw and paint our own Azulejo...

Our garden

Our garden

During our stay in MOJU, we have the chance to take care of the Ecoteca…

… and during these sunny weeks we spend some of our free time there.

We divided in groups and each one is responsible for a part of the garden, to cultivate it, water it…

… and have fun doing something different!

Intercultural night! Meeting Turkey!

Intercultural night! Meeting Turkey!

Meeting Turkish culture thanks to Kübra!

She introduced us to her country’s culture and nature through an amusing presentation while listening to typical music…

… and she prepared traditional Turkish dishes, delights and drinks.

We shared good moments with friends in Saaz Craft Beer Lounge, Olhão which is a really cool and cozy place to hang out!

Trip to Odemira and São Luís

Trip to Odemira and São Luís

In Portugal there are many places to visit...

…we specially like small charming villages like Odemira and São Luís.

Next to these villages, on the coast, is Vila Nova de Milfontes. One of the oldest parishes in the municipality, it was founded in 1485 by King John II, the area was constituted to serve an economic and defensive role in the Alentejo, at the confluence of the Mira River, and benefitted from its strategic importance as a safe harbour.

There are lots of corners to take in the peaceful air of the natural park.

Excellent place to meet with some friends and have a relaxing weekend in the nature.

Trip to Alentejo

Trip to Alentejo

To spend a few days in Alentejo was an amazing time getting to know the region through its people, food and beautiful landscapes full of colours.

It was also surprising to find out that here we can find one of the oldest human settlements in the peninsula…

...Vale Maria do Meio cromlech is located in Nossa Senhora da Graça do Divor in Évora and was identified in 1993, composed of 34 standing stones. Most of the menhir components are well preserved, although some are fractured. In 1995 there was the excavation and possible redeployment of all menhirs in their original positions. To put them back in place were used techniques similar to the ones used by the ancestors, using ropes, wood trunks and the good effort of a lot of people of the region. The excavated areas were covered with geotextile. Some imprints of staffs and lunar crescents were detected in at least two monoliths with the use of oblique light. This monument is classified as MN – Monumento Nacional.

We also got to walk through the history of Évora

… and spend a nice and relaxing day on the west coast.

Impressive places not far away from Olhão!
